The results are in from the Unqork Spring 2024 Hackathon, and two teams from EY took the top spots. The hackathon challenged Creators to build working applications that showcase the power of Unqork Integration Gateway: a new comprehensive catalog of integrations that are easy to use, secure, and help deliver faster time to market.
Both the winning team and the runners-up did a fantastic job of showing how, with Unqork Integration Gateway, you can quickly create sophisticated, customer-first experiences powered by a diverse set of platforms and data sources. Watch the teams showcase their work:
About Unqork Integration Gateway
The Unqork Integration Gateway offers seamless connectivity across more than 1,000 enterprise applications and databases, including both on-premise and cloud-based systems. It makes it easier than ever to connect apps, data, and services to Unqork and improves integrations with third-party platforms such as Snowflake, DocuSign, and on-premise SQL servers.
Thanks to an intuitive drag-and-drop interface, advanced mapping capabilities, and access to performance monitoring tools, Unqork Integration Gateway provides all of the tools you need to create and manage integrations with simplicity and ease. Creators can rapidly build a step-by-step recipe to map the integration’s flow. They can also easily set up triggers and automatically kick off actions and events when triggered.
Benefits include:
- Faster time to value: Seamlessly leverage templatized connections and easy “recipe builder” capabilities to integrate enterprise applications, databases, and legacy infrastructure.
- Democratized development: Provides an intuitive, drag-and-drop interface designed for both IT and business users, with advanced mapping and performance monitoring capabilities.
- Enhanced security & scalability: Leverage pre-built connectors out of the box. Rely on the Unqork platform for security, performance, and reliability. And access accurate and consistent metrics to ensure optimal performance.
Winning submission: An end-to-end insurance claims portal
For their winning entry, three members of the EY team—Sylvia Mary Immanuel Sundar, Sujitha C S, and Viviliya Jenifer Mary Jesudoss—created a powerful, end-to-end claims portal application that digitizes and accelerates loss reporting and kicks off the first step of claims processing.
To accelerate the process for customers, they built integrations that prepopulate required information in the first notice of loss (FNOL) report, automate generation of PDF reports, and enable digital signatures. Once the FNOL report is completed, it is sent for approval to the adjuster. The adjuster can then quickly provide a decision via a dashboard.
The integrations used by the team include:
- MySQL database to insert, update, and select policy and claims details
- HTTP request to get VIN details
- Slack to notify the claims community about claim initiation and submission
- PDFMonkey to generate PDFs with reported claim details
- Dropbox for uploading and sharing automatically generated PDFs
- DocuSign to fetch documents, send from Dropbox for eSignature, and monitor the process to update the claim status
- Outlook to trigger an email that includes the PDF report and a link to the adjustor’s Unqork dashboard to kick off the review process
The team was particularly impressed that Unqork could save data to an external database without saving it anywhere in the submission. “This means I’m able to track the data and save it via the integration we created. That is such a cool capability to have,” says Viviliya.
The runner-up: An e-commerce portal for Shopify
Another three-person team from EY—Mangaiyarkarasi Thangavel, Saranya Radhakrishnan, and Ashlin Felix R—created a cool e-commerce portal for Shopify that enables customers to browse for products and customize their purchases. Remarkably, the team was able to build it in two days—and implement it in just one hour.
To demonstrate the speed and flexibility of Integration Gateway, their application includes connections with:
- Shopify to add customer and product details
- MySQL to store Shopify details
- Google Translate for multilingual capabilities
- Twilio for customer notifications
- Outlook to send emails
- Workato to send SMS messages
“Integration Gateway is such an excellent new feature that makes it easy to connect with external systems,” explained Saranya. “Even though we didn’t have previous experience creating integrations with SQL, Shopify, or SMS solutions, Integration Gateway made it easy to communicate with those systems.”
