An engineering lead with more than eight years of professional experience, Prince Kumar has been an Unqork Creator since 2021. Since then, he has earned both his Associate and Professional Configurator certificates and has been named a subject matter expert (SME) as one of Unqork Community’s most knowledgeable and active members.
Q: Tell us about a particularly exciting use case you have built using Unqork.
Prince: Currently, my team and I are working on an application for a healthcare organization that lets users book appointments, meet with providers virtually, and complete patient consent forms and other healthcare-related forms digitally, including support for multiple languages.
The ability to fill out these forms digitally is great for both patients and the provider. It can take up to half an hour to fill out those forms manually. Also, because the forms are digitized, they don’t have to repeat their work. For example, if patients visit a hospital, they don’t have to fill out consent forms every time they are admitted. They can also fill out forms before their visit, which saves time for both patients and healthcare providers.
In addition, healthcare providers don’t have to handle all that paper. Whenever a team member needs to access a form, they can just securely download a digital copy from the cloud. Patients can also access their submitted forms via secure login to their account.
How does creating with Unqork compare to building with code?
With a code-based approach, we would need to write code to map every pixel and every image of our applications. With Unqork, we only have to understand the logic of the application and the specific Unqork components we are using. No coding is required at all. That means that with Unqork we can build an enterprise-grade application in three to four months that would have taken at least a year using code.

How has Unqork improved collaboration with the non-technical teams you are serving?
Yes, with Unqork we can deliver better service to our business clients. As I said, we can build applications much faster, but we can also make changes and updates faster too. For example, if our client needs us to build three new forms, we can do that within just one week—and that includes handling the data and supporting multiple languages.
Security and privacy are obviously very important for the healthcare organizations you serve. How does Unqork help make this job easier?
Most companies spend a lot of money to secure their data and applications. Unqork delivers big savings, because it basically handles security for you. Once we have set up role-based access controls (RBAC), we don’t have to worry about security at all, except for small tasks. For example, if we are importing data from another platform through an external API, we have to make sure security is in place. However, for components within Unqork, all that is already taken care of for us.

What are some of your favorite Unqork features?
My favorite feature is Dynamic Refresh, which is a great tool for improving the speed and performance of Unqork applications.
I also love Integration Gateway, which lets you connect to third-party systems quickly and makes it easy to handle security.
Do you have any best practices that you’d like to share with other Unqork creators?
First of all, make sure that the naming conventions you use are clear so other Creators can find the components they need quickly and are clear what to use them for.
Second, you can also avoid a lot of problems when creating API plugins by setting up error handling, which lets end-users know when a problem has occurred. It is easy to forget error handling, but it’s definitely worth remembering. It’s an easy way to deliver a better end-user experience.
Finally, I always tell people to take advantage of Unqork Community. It is a very active community. There is no reason to waste time when you are stuck, when you could reach out to community members and get the guidance you need. Don’t be embarrassed to ask questions. People aren’t judging you. We are just there to help.
